The Home Grown Soul Show is a unique program that utilizes the web, radio and the stage to showcase independent artists. Since August 2008, the Home Grown Soul Show has featured local singers from the Sacramento, CA area as well as music industry elite.

The Home Grown Soul Show also produced a weekly live band open mic that was the biggest and longest running show of it's kind in Sacramento's history. Along with the most talented singers and musicians in the local area, our stage show featured national artists like Kim Waters, Karen White, Eric Roberson, Marten Luther, Jaguar Wright, and even Los Angeles Assemblymen Isadore Hall.

Today, the Home Grown Soul Show features some of the Best soul artists from all over the world and has now become on of the only places to find new soul music on N. California radio. The Home Grown Soul Show is expanding into new markets and is syndicating on new stations as we speak. The mission of the Home Grown Soul Show is to connect our listeners to great new soul music and talented musicians and singers and expanded the soul music genera on main stream radio.

CEO of Platinum Bound Media Group and Host of the Home Grown Soul Show, AKIL is a man on a mission to create opportunity for Singers, Musicians, and for the community at large. in 1997 AKIL was a Co-Producer for the hugely successful "Urban Grooves R&B Showcase" at Geoffrey's Inner Circle where Latoya London was a winner of one competition.
 

AKIL had an idea to create a similar showcase that would highlight talent and create a platform in Sacramento. Akil got that opportunity when employed at Clear Channel Radio. He pitched the idea to then Operations Manager Don Alias, Jr. August 2008, the Radio Show was Born.

Akil is also heavily involved in community affairs and has had the honor to perform a piece at Susan Taylor's N. Calif. CARES MENTORING Movement's Northern Californian Press Conference in Santa Rosa. MLK' Day at the Convention Center, Black Expo, 100 Black Men's "Young Male Conference", The Sacramento Sweet Potato Festival, the National NAACP 100 Year Anniversary, and Senator Darryl Steinberg's "Pass Port to Summer" festival.
